Studbolt & Fasteners offer a Complete Package Solution.

July 21, 2010

Pipefit Supplies Ltd have for over 20 years supplied studbolts and nuts in various material grades including ASTM A193 B7/A194 2H, L7/G7, B8/G8. Coatings include BZP, HDSGalv and PTFE.

12 ft random lengths of B7 studbar are available from stock which can be cut to length for a quick turn around requirement, particularly relevant for the Petrochemical Hydrocarbon Onshore and Offshore activities.

Simply where there is a requirement for the installation of pipeline equipment and other types of construction, more often than not this requires a studbolt or fastening. To enhance our concept of providing total service we offer our standard stock range to include Grade 4.6, Grade 8.8, A2 and A4 Stainless Steel Fasteners.

Complementing this are Nyloc nuts, Washers, Studbar and Throughbolts enabling our experienced sales team to offer customers a complete package, which can lead to cost savings associated with purchasing activities.

We would welcome your valued enquiries which we assure you would be given our best attention.

Steam Supply and Condensate Recovery System

March 23, 2010

In March 2009 an engineering feasibility study was commissioned by an oil refining organisation, to both modify an existing plant and build a new terminal. The subject of this study was relating to the provision of storage and loading / off loading facilities for molten sulphur.

Study results were used to prepare an engineering design together with costs and timescale estimates for procurement and build.

As a principal supplier and stockist of Armstrong equipment we were invited to submit our recommendations for the application of products, taking into consideration technical and operational requirements. In conjunction with Armstrong Int., Pipefit Supplies Limited prepared and submitted comprehensive proposals and costings related to the project. The installation was to provide a new heated tanker off-loading system and modification of two existing storage tanks which have a combined capacity of 12;618m³. Each tank would be fitted with steam heating coils sized to provide a product holding temperature of 140˚C. In addition a new steam jacketed transport line and pumping system would facilitate export of molten sulphur by a new two point loading jetty.

The involvement of Pipefit Supplies Limited included proposals for installation of an effective condensate recovery system. We were invited to offer proposals and a quotation for a non-electric pump and trap recovery system based on actual condensate loads being returned back to the boiler house. An EPT-206 package pumping set, complete with digital cycle counter, was installed on both tanks. These would service the total condensate load of the system and the digital counter would, in part, provide an analysis of energy savings associated with the production of steam.

The effective recovery of condensate would reduce fuel and energy costs associated with producing steam.

Unique Zinga Product Galvanises Power Industry

March 18, 2010

Project Requirement

Pipefit Supplies were invited by Drax Power Station to discuss the application of Zinga within a particularly corrosive environment.

A steel fabricated flash steam vessel support frame was corroded and in need of replacement. This was installed 20 feet below ground within a pit, which, was subject to a continuous damp atmosphere and occasional total condensate submersion of the steel.

Traditionally a new pre fabricated hot dip galvanised steel frame would have been manufactured and installed. This option was not feasible as access down into the pit was limited and distortion of the steel during the hot dip galvanising process was not acceptable.

Our proposal was to supply the steel framework to site in ‘jigsaw style‘ pieces coated with Zinga, a unique cold applied galvanising process. This would then be fabricated and fitted by the site contractor in situ, eliminating the access problems whilst providing the steel with a coating which can offer an excellent life expectancy within this harsh environment.

Zinga offers genuine cathodic protection whilst is applied as easy as paint. Particularly advantageous for this project was that zinganised steel can be fully welded after the coating had been applied and being a cold application process there is no distortion to the steel, eliminating costly modifications to steel which has been distorted by the Hot Dip Galvanising Process.

The steelwork has an indefinite lifespan now Zinga has been applied, as once the existing zinc layer is pressure washed with water regardless of the age, it will re-liquidise and fuse together with a newly applied Zinga coating to form one single homogenous layer, a quite unique reloading capability.

Off-Shore Firemain Pipework Upgrade

December 16, 2009

Pipefit Supplies Ltd were recently approached to supply an off-shore firemain pipework upgrade.  The requirement, for a 14″ 16 Bar rated EEMUA Offshore Cunifer and associated fittings was received from an engineer based on an offshore gas processing platform.

The Pipefit team, upon receipt of the enquire, quickly established that timescale was critical to the asset owner and any delay in material procurement could have led to platform production downtime. The objective was to source the material and deliver direct to a nominated fabricator on a same day basis, including relevant material test certification and QA checked in accordance with ISO Procedures. Same day couriers were organized to collect the items from different areas of the country these were then delivered to the fabricator on schedule. This ensured the fabricator had the specified number of hours to fabricate the spool pieces and test.

Pipefit’s handling of this project ensured that the off-shore installation was completed without any loss in production. This type of work typifies Pipefit’s association with the offshore/petrochemical environment and is the type of service offered for over 20 years to an diverse and international client base.
